triples are best
If he isn't he should resign. He has to be. We also are at a major disadvantage. If we were P2 I'd almost be willing to
hold it against him for not landing him- but i understand a kid wanting to go to the Big 10 or SEC.
Landing a QB like that could be a program altering signing (if a five start pans out for us for once).

Please please ARod land a big QB
TNT

Kalani*

Jan 2, 1:27pm
Cause ARod has nothing to do with it. LOL
Coug
Jan 2, 1:30pm
Of course he has something to do with it, but people are pretending this isn't a Kalani thing.
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:31pm
That's because Kalani isn't going anywhere
TNT
Jan 2, 1:32pm
So that means the buck doesn't stop with him anymore?
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:34pm
As of now he can't be replaced. ARod can
TNT
Jan 2, 1:35pm
So that explains why you want to blame Arod, but has nothing to do with shifting the actual responsibility.
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:37pm
Kalani does take some of the blame for sure
TNT
Jan 2, 1:37pm
So did Kalani not land Zach, or Jaren? Because Kalani holds the same position
Polecat
Jan 2, 1:33pm
Kalani gets credit for those.
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:35pm
To most of us reasonable people, yes. I do think there are some who are
Polecat
Jan 2, 1:38pm
Kalani was integral in landing Zach. I said this when I was being
kimdaddy35
Jan 2, 1:41pm
Bronco landed Jaren. Kalani landed Zach.

ARod is the OC and pseudo QB coach... his responsibility is recruiting QB's
Coug
Jan 2, 1:35pm
Then of course there’s the fact they Retzlaff is a recruiting win for Arod, for
Polecat
Jan 2, 1:42pm
It's almost like you have no idea how a D1 program recruits
SJS
Jan 2, 1:43pm
So Kalani is a micromanager, that's your position?
Coug
Jan 2, 1:48pm
Being involved in recruiting stars = micromanaging.
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:52pm
According to you
Coug
Jan 2, 1:52pm
You’re taking in circles now.
shimmy
Jan 2, 2:00pm
I'm not the person calling Kalani a micromanager... you are

That isn’t how language works, bud.

It's so weird how people blame the OC but not the HC for recruiting issues
SJS
Jan 2, 1:32pm
Kalani is more likeable and they're already crying about Arod so it is a time saver.
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:33pm
If you go to the recruit sites... it shows the coach that is recruiting each individual...
Coug
Jan 2, 1:36pm
Maybe you've just got an axe to grind?
SJS
Jan 2, 1:38pm
LOL. As if that means anything
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:38pm
If Kalani has to hold ARod's hand to get a QB... I guess it's Kalani's fault then
Coug
Jan 2, 1:41pm
Kalani has to be involved and the closer on any big recruit- including anyone imminently slated to be starting QB.
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:44pm
Well let’s follow the pattern here. Kalani is head coach the entire time.
Polecat
Jan 2, 1:37pm
You think OCs offer kids without the HC's input?
SJS
Jan 2, 1:39pm
No I don’t think that. I do think Kalani trusts his assistants and ultimately
Polecat

Link to this "evidence"?

Meant to say trust. I’ve already spelled out the evidence. Detmer wanted his
Polecat

What does he do then???
coolblue
Jan 2, 2:14pm
Why don’t you write to him and ask him?
Polecat
Jan 2, 3:16pm
If an assistant coach is failing in his recruiting duties... than Kalani takes the heat for keeping that assistant coach
Coug
Jan 2, 1:40pm
My point is I see people being inconsistent their opinions. If the offense is
Polecat
Jan 2, 1:46pm
Or maybe the idea of responibility is highly nuanced, far beyond what the "Fire ARod" crowd thinks
SJS
Jan 2, 1:48pm
It’s absolutely nuanced. Any head coach is allowed to divvy out responsibility
Polecat
Jan 2, 1:50pm
Yes... Kalani choose to keep a failing coach in Tuiaki and Funk... that ultimately falls on Kalani's shoulders then...
Coug
Jan 2, 1:51pm
Link to people who say "ARod can do no wrong"?
SJS

Show me first where I said that people are saying it, I believe I used the word "Believe" not "say"

Well, we went 11-2, best team since 1996. It would be fair to say I have no complaints.
SJS
Jan 2, 2:19pm
That's great... let's see if it pays off with recruiting...

Recruiting QBs is definitely a HC job. At least it is with every other program
kimdaddy35
Jan 2, 1:31pm
At the very least it is Kalani's job to get the $$$ to get the QB. And BYU is gonna have to overpay to get a star away
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:36pm
Yes that is the very least. When I spoke to a couple of big time recruits that chose other programs
kimdaddy35
Jan 2, 1:38pm
Kalani has to be intricately involved with Ryder Lyons. If not he should just abandon ship. (I absolutely believe he is)
shimmy
Jan 2, 1:40pm
Agreed. Lyons is a program changing type of talent. If you are running the program then

Needs to be a priority even if they believe Retzlaff is the guy

They have "those" types of guys in Hillstead and Bourgeot.

Jan 2, 1:41pm
Not necessarily for next season. Just land a big-time recruit
TNT
Jan 2, 1:43pm
Devin Brown should be officially in the market and discussing offers now

I asked yesterday, but didn't get much of a response. Is he on the table for BYU?

How would that pitch go? Devin, I know you were a backup at Ohio St. How would you like to
kimdaddy35
Jan 2, 1:59pm
Come compete for the starting job. That is what Bohannon was told, right?
Captain Stubing
Jan 2, 2:10pm
Bohannon was coming into a situation where Jake had been the QB for just 4 games and had gone 0-4
kimdaddy35
Jan 2, 2:16pm
ya , I get it is a tough sell. We need a QB that has 3 to play 3, or a redshirt
