I had an e-commerce account manager that kept giving me forecasts of growth in her area around 8%. Her supervisor kept telling me she was always busy and increasing content, advertising, marketing, etc., was just a longer process and 8% was all that was really possible in that area. Turns out she didn't have enough time because she was also selling other companies' products on my time. When she was gone, her area saw almost immediate 30% growth with just some focus and basic productivity.
I have heard nightmares from other employers of employees basically stealing from their employers by hitting the lowest marks possible and making excuses for doing so along the way. The constant reply is "I am getting my work done." The fact is that "No, you're not because you're lying about what you can actually do if you worked a full day for a full wage."
