BYU '80 Intervention Needed
There are two points. Pinning them deep is much more likely to happen
You sir don’t understand football.

Who cares what the coach says. He said that because of the result of the play. The purpose accd to you is completely dependent on the cb not looking for the ball at all

The point was to pin them. Secondary was to luck out and hit someone. They only sent two WRs on the pattern I do believe. If the point was to hit someone they should have sent five WRs on streak routes. Much better chance to hit someone with five targets.

Also they still completely lucked out a second time by missing an easy recovery

Also he kicked it toward the sideline meaning it is entirely possible he was trying to kick it into the corner oob. Again much more likely than hitting someone. Most rugby points also have a secondary purpose of hitting someone. Almost never happens
