Exactly. Can’t eat your cake and have it too. There are weeks I work well more
than 40 hours, including late into the night and/or weekends. I don’t get paid overtime for that. So on weeks when the workload is lighter, I see no moral obligation to work for 40 hours just for an arbitrary number’s sake.
If the actual number of hours mattered that much, then they should just pay me by the hour.
