They think BYU is weird if they even think about BYU at all.

They think Mormons are weird.

They won't care one bit about a new med school at BYU.

I spent 11 years there. They'll have zero desire to connect in any way and for 99% of them there really won't be crossover in what they do.

Maaaaybe the very top leadership will view it differently but I doubt it. I don't think there will be a "rivalry" per se but there won't be a ton of collaboration. The programs will just function on their own imo like most med schools just do, outside of the U maintaining some relationship with IHC which might saddle up more with BYU than the U which they obviously compete against in a lot of ways..
