Nice.
My son knows I'd give him a crappy old android for free, but he wants the features of a slightly upgraded model that
he has to pay for himself. He knows that buying it himself doesn't change how he gets to use it, but it's still worth it to him to buy what he wants.

I like the cheapest android. Then I use Family Link for parental controls. My son LOVES it when I shut off his phone

Family Link will work on the Pixel 7a too

sure but why buy him a $500 phone when a $100 phone will do the job and won't be as frustrating when he breaks it or

The two phones I mentioned are exactly the same price.

preppy was talking about "the cheapest android". I assume he meant an older phone outside of the two you mentioned.

Do I interpret the frowny face as both options are bad?

TCuz is sad for you that you can't afford to waste money buying an iPhone as a status symbol

If you are not getting an iPhone then either option is good.

Sorry to burst your "bubble" but blue and green bubbles will still be a thing even after RCS update. Apple isn't about

Correct. RCS will still be worse than iMessage and will be shunned.

That will probably be the case, but when someone reacts it should show up as a reaction instead of a text that

My suggestion is don't get him a phone at all. Why buy something you know...

Maybe I don’t think or “know” that it damages him emotionally.

They've been solid. There isn't an S22 FE version, and the S21 FE is pretty old now.
