We are a rec league all-star B team as well. Utah has very few teams willing to
play a gold division. If the 10 or so good teams in silver just played Gold like they should do, then Silver would be rec level. Gold would have about 15 average comp level teams.
It's a racket. FOMO. That's why we jumped in. Weren't sure what we were missing. Now I realize, not much. Prob need a distinction on Travel vs Comp team. But then again, I see some of these teams traveling and I'm scratching my head.
That said I've seen some 12U teams in the Gold division in Utah that have an average ht and weight of 5'10, 190 pounds. Not even joking. That is a comp team. With statewide tryouts.
