The reason this is even a discussion is because the O excelled in just about
every game this season so the D never had to win a game. All they had to do was hold big leads. Not debatable.
However, we played 2 real teams this season and the D sucked vs both of them when we needed them to step up.
We lose vs Houston if we don't make insanely last minute adjustments to man defense. So you have to ask what in the world took so long? And then why can't we run that defense more often?
Then vs CCU our D gets absolutely gashed from beginning to end and we we stayed in a cover 2 all game. Why? Because the D doesn't expect to have to win games so they don't even try. That is why people are bagging on the D. It almost never adjusts and it never makes an effort to win games even when they KNOW what they are doing isn't working.
Tuiaki is a pathetic DC.

BYU's offensive impotence was the biggest problem that game. They had plenty of chances and squandered most of them

BYU averaged less than 2 points per drive for their other 9 drives. That ain't getting it done against anyone
