A poem for you
Although this more directly has reference to sin, I hope this can bring comfort. The atonement of the Lord covers all pain, sadness, or mistake-no matter how crushing. Just remember that the sun will always rise and you will see your boy again and God went below all things to make it so.

Dark is the night that envelopes me so
And crushing the weight of my sin
It strangles my courage and threatens all hope
Of seeing the sun rise again

My vision is lost and I fear the unknown
Though the pathway has never changed course
The great rod of iron like a beacon has shone
But I stumble with guilt and remorse

I look inward for help to my own mortal frame
And stand up on my own feeble legs
Whilst ignoring the voice that calls softly my name
As I drink from my cup’s bitter dregs

Jekyll struggles inside to conquer and reign
And he seems destined at times to abide
Yet it’s a matter of time ere his efforts are vain
And the nighttime is ruled o’er by Hyde

Have I fallen too far? Is the time too far spent?
Can a wretch such as me still be saved?
The blood that Christ spilt for most sinners was meant
But surely not souls so depraved

Scarlet sins run so deep with stains so well set
That whiteness like snow seems remote
And no matter the skill of the fisher’s cast net
I’ll ne’er claim my place on His boat

Dark is the night that swallows the world
And blankets the rays of the sun
Yet, lo, yonder light that’s slowly unfurled
As inevitably winter’s undone

No matter how long the night was displayed
Or stifled the light of the dawn
The brightness destroys any remnants of shade
In proof that obscurity’s gone

The warmth knows no bounds as it thaws life and space
And banishes sin’s ugly chill
For as deep and as cold as was winter’s long race
The dawn is more powerful still

Should I pity the night as it hastens afar?
For its soul groans to see the sun shine
No! Its soul shall not have its request so bizarre
For it certainly showed none to mine

The colors so dim that painted earth’s sphere
When twilight controlled with such fright
Changed in brightness and hue as the morning drew near
Every crimson and scarlet washed white

Wondrous sight was restored as my eyes touched the light
I can see! I can see! Cried my tongue
Oh this vision I’d lost and feared gone with the night
Circled back like the prodigal son

Dark was the night though its grasp is undone
By a carpenter from Galilee
For the light which I saw was God’s only Son
As He suffered so I could be free

The blood that He spilt and shed from each pore
Wasn’t giv’n so the whole could be saved
It opened the way and unlocked death’s great door
Precisely for souls so depraved

For the places most dark every traveler knows
Through experience sad but sore needed
See the light shine most bright and each corner expose
As the rays scamper on unimpeded

Whereas once I looked in for deliverance’s sight
As a handrail through sin’s bitter haze
I saw no support nor accompanying light
Until outward my heart cast its gaze

The fall was immense, the distance so great
I knew not if it could be reversed
Yet the Lord knows no chasm, nor tumble, nor straight
That He’s not yet o’ercome or traversed

The chains have been loosed and the battle cry called
Though the war is still near to the start
Yet the weapon I wield is the greatest of all:
A mighty powerful change in my heart
