It was the first game where the student section was first come first serve, so I wasn't sure what it would take to get one of the better seats in the student section. (I consider the best seat in the student section to be 20th to 25th row on the isle on the north side of the student section). I got to campus 5 hours before kickoff and went to the bookstore to buy a new game day t-shirt.
I came to find out that 5 hours wasn't enough as my best option was maybe the 15th row of the upper deck. I had never seen anything like it, a sheet of rain getting closer and closer. Luckily, the rain cleared out a lot of the students that were sitting in better seats than me. I moved up to what I consider to be the best student section seats.
Eventually the event staff came and made me leave my seat and get under the bleachers. I tried to be the last one to go under the bleachers so I could be the first one out. A little later I saw some students running out in the south stands. I asked the event staff member, "what does that mean?" as I ran to the seat I wanted followed by everyone at my portal.
They announced over the PA that we were not supposed to return to our seats, but at that point no one listened. Then the cherry on top, we kicked Texas' trash.
Downside of wearing a brand new shirt in the rain, my garment top was stained and ruined.
