...just like how many on CB want to believe so badly that Retzlaff is a great QB, because they're conflating the feel good story about his background and journey in making it from JUCO to BYU. All metrics point to him having improved significantly since last season (how couldnt he) ...but even with all the improvement, statistically speaking, he is just an average, if not still below average QB that is able to manage games, but not really put the team on his back and carry it, because many of the holes he has to fight to get out of, he actually created.
Also, to your last point, I think you underestimate the power of social media to create narratives, which build momentum and ultimately action. Obviously one single post will do nothing, however, many, over time build momentum and thousands of people have read just mine alone (not to mention the many hundreds/thousands on the board that feel the same way I do) ...and all of their efforts, it builds... and as with Tuiaki, at some point a change will have to be made. The fan sentiment ultimately forced the admin to make a change.
