traveled between four cities in the same week at least every other month and to each of those cities on a week by week basis. I probably had a total of 40 hours of just travel time for the multi-city week, and then there was 6-8 hours at each facility, potentially a business meal or government dinner, some times late night coaching. There were some days I slept more on the plane than in the hotel.
And even on the weekly stops, I'd arrive in town, then visit the facility, walk thru, do a monthly review, and then visit farm bases for 24-48 hours before I'd fly back home.
All this meaning I was putting in FAR more than 40 hours and no one compensated me for squat.
But my boss also didn't say a word if I was on the golf course when he called me and wanted some info.
