It's like when many say,
People can leave the church but they can't leave it alone.

Having no idea the percentage of people who don't believe and have indeed left it alone/behind.

If it were true that those who no longer believe didn't leave it alone, there would be a way bigger uproar heard than there is because only about 33% to 38% of members are active. Take out those who are under 18 and then only include those with temple recommends as strong believers, then you're down to about 4 Million people out of the 17 Million.

So there are so many more people out there that could do/say whatever thing, but don't. Yet the trope continues on.

Hope this doesn't sound harsh. I'm not trying to be. I love my family, friends, ward, fellow BYU fans, most all of whom are members. I'm just saying, sometimes they say things about reality that don't exactly line up with their perspective. That's the same with all of us to one degree or another.
