Wasn't the implication you were making that there wasn't anyone better? But now it sounds like you're saying there were better coaches available for us to hire, but we didn't have the time to vet more candidates. That's a very different argument.
And in my experience with interviewing and hiring, you don't just hire the best guy in your first 10 candidates even if you didn't like him. You keep hunting until you find someone you do like, someone who's qualified. But Funk clearly wasn't qualified, so there seems to have been a breakdown somewhere.
