Sounds noble. I don't have much to fight for here though.
I'm priced out of most real estate markets so no house to protect or community to feel invested in. I couldn't care less about trying to better a community I can't put roots into. Most feel the same way I do if you're stuck renting.

I'm in Denver. I don't think prices will keep skyrocketing but I don't think they'll fall either. If interest rates drop, prices will just climb more quickly again. We're entering a period of stagflation that will last for many years to come. I would have to make an extra hundred thousand a year to afford a home, afford a family, help my parents, and put much away for retirement. If I purchased a home right now, I would be paycheck to paycheck and I'm frugal.

I am not currently married but I would like to be. I've been looking to switch employers and move to less-expensive areas. I get interviews but no job offers. I'm in a very niche and competitive field.

My girlfriend's kids go to an elementary school and just hear woke programming for hours. Then you have to deprogram them every evening. The level of STEM subjects they're exposed to is frighteningly low. American public schools are beyond help IMO. Increasing class sizes, woke agendas, poor funding, and language barriers are killing the next generations. I'd rather they do YouTube tutorials every day.

I'm healthy, but I went in for some check-ups recently and so far, I've had to pay over $4000 out of pocket. My insurance is average.

The people who own homes, have families, and are comfortable can fight for the country. I give it 5-10 more years and people who are "comfortable" now will begin to see what some of us saw happening years ago.
