Why would you donate so a 20 year old can make more than you and drive a nicer

Car? I used to donate annually when I was helping a kid get an education and a get ahead in life. As soon as NIL became a thing I stopped. I don’t donate to Arsenal, or the Angels, or Ducks. I buy a ticket, but that is it. Donation implies charity. This is no longer charitable giving. This is a for profit business.
