RE: I think we are talking about two different things and you are looking to
I think I'm making an attempt at explaining more than preaching. Sorry it's not coming off that way.

We seem to know very different former believers.

A lot of times, believers see former believers doing certain things and they think that is a sign of disrespect, etc. But really, it's just a sign that they no longer think that such and such a thing is bad.

For example, at Liberty University as part of their honor code, they restrict dancing. (They used to anyway. I don't know about now but I think they still restrict it.)

If former students who no longer believed in fundamental evangelicalism started posting pictures of themselves dancing, some of the believing Liberty University students, would be like see, they've gone off the rails, etc. That's what happens if you leave.

No, it's just that the former believers in evangelicalism realized that there's nothing wrong with dancing. That's how many former Latter-day Saints feel about getting tattoos, swear words, etc.

...There is more concentrated animosity for the Catholic Church in the Northeast US
than there is in utah. Because the Catholic Church dominates the Northeast more than any other non-governmental entity.

It's just normal and natural that when one group exerts so much power and influence in a concentrated area, that animosity between that group and many of the citizens will ensue.

People in Utah don't really care about the Catholic church because it doesn't affect their everyday lives like the Latter-day Saints do.
