How is this a weakness?
The other team has fewer chances to score also
The other team has to maximize every drive.
The other team has more chances to make a mistake per drive.
Our offense is pretty good and maximizing its opportunities.
Our defense is built around this philosophy, they platoon 4&5 people in and out all the time to keep them fresh through Q4
The other team has to platoon their trench in an out to stay fresh for Q4.
Across the wide majority of games we will play the defensive strategy will maximize our strengths offensively and defensively. Although not as fun to watch, most people prefer gambling to a statistic driven strategy because it feels more fun but it loses long term.

BYU's offensive impotence was the biggest problem that game. They had plenty of chances and squandered most of them

BYU averaged less than 2 points per drive for their other 9 drives. That ain't getting it done against anyone
