people don’t know very much at all about Idaho/Utah. For example, when I tell people I’m from Idaho, some people think it’s Iowa. They know there’s an Idaho, but they have no idea where it is. It’s crazy but true.

This does not happen often, of course. Maybe 3 or 4 times in the last 11 years. Once it was a person who was originally from New York and was only in CA...for law school. I shook my head for days that someone in law school didn’t know the difference between IA and ID. Made me feel a lot less great about my accomplishment of getting into law school. 🙂

People are clueless about basic geography. Jay Leno’s “people on the street” segments are hilarious to watch, and, it turns out people are clueless about a lot of things.
