Our neighbors were investigating the church. They started reading the Book of Mormon, were interested and so got some additional sources from the library. They had us over for dinner and the wife got aggressive. She started calling Joseph Smith a sexual pervert, etc and quoting from Krakauers book on the Prophet and church-organized mob violence. That mostly ended that friendship.

You have to take Krakauer with a grain of salt. I have read a couple of his books and he has his colorful version of facts. For instance, you read Into Thin Air and then compare it to The Climb (endorsed version by other climbers who were there) and you are left scratching your head.
