then and even considering finances. If he stays he can raise his draft stock a get dramatically bigger rookie contract.
The difference between 5th pick and 15th pick is over 3 million dollars and like double the money.
Also consider development will be much easier at BYU competing at the correct level for his current abilities and less travel (especially pre-season) and more practice. Sticking in the NBA a getting a big second contract is more likely staying at BYU this year - he will be better prepared, teams will invest heavier in him, and get him more critical playing time.
Now it used to be an "all or nothing" decision so the risk of injury or lowering your draft stock by having a bad year was just to great to pass up any contract over a million dollars. However, with NIL that part of the equation is massively mitigated. Egor would earn significant NIL money next year. Now s"a bird in the hand" is great but considering long term development and rookie contract value favors returning to BYU as does sticking in the NBA long term and getting that all important second NBA contract.
Now on personal level hanging out with peers close to his age will be much more enjoyable and the environment will get him much more ready for the challenges of an NBA travel schedule with people almost twice his age in some cases.
Personally, the choice is 15th pick or greater and 1.5 million BYU NIL or greater - I think the choice is clear that he should return.
