Logistically, you need at least 2 weeks to coordinate home games and travel.
So, #3 and #4 don't work.
I really like #1. The CFP committee has become a joke. But, I imagine ESPN loves the TV ratings - which are motivated by the controversy.
I support your last suggestion about the transfer portal. The transfer portal rules and schedule favor the student-athletes, which makes sense. But, it makes a mockery of the football season...and especially the post-season.
