One argument for the apparent regression is that he played the best defenses at
the end of the season. Utah, Arizona State, and Colorado all have top notch defenses.
Oh, and his injury against Kansas can easily explain that performance.

Pretty good analysis. Another threat is injury.

Man, I hope you’re right. I would love to see his TD/INT improve as season goes

This is the best and most fair evaluation of Jake I've seen on here.

My biggest concern is that he seemed to regress as the season went on
spinner
12/30/24 8:30am
Part of that was due to injury right?

Based on what A Rod said last night, a lot of it - if not most - was due to

I don’t buy it - his decision making seemed to regress too
spinner

And he was 100% healthy for the bowl game
foofcoug
12/30/24 8:43am
But candidly, we don't know that - we were lead to believe he was healthy

12/30/24 8:51am
If you play injuries aren’t an excuse. Especially the int in the end zone.

I agree in theory, but in practice lots of high T athletes oversell how

It highlight his poor decision making. Retzlaff is good enough to start next year but not good enough for coaches to

Then explain the Colorado performance. They said he was as healthy as preseason

I don't think there's much to explain- two bad decisions. He made two bad

The first throw to Marion was also a bad throw. A good throw and it is an easy catch. Marion

Could had thrown it more in stride, but should had been an easy catch

Or in a way that doesn't make the receiver have to turn around and come to a stop basically.
Baron
12/30/24 10:50am
He had to slow down, but a 35 yard pass, thrown with touch, bounced off WR chest

I am stating that it wasn't a good throw. No indictment. He would admit it was not a good throw.
Baron

You said it was a bad throw. I feel it was at least an ok throw, but yeah, not

And to follow up, your question is really answered in the OP.

I guess I don’t totally buy into his “health” was reason he played poorly as

The shovel pass int was not his fault. It is not a read. In fact, he can't watch it or else it's not effective
darkcoug

Sure maybe bad luck stunt, but it's still a read. He COULD absolutely see there

It's not a no look pass. Yes, he has to sell it, but it's not blind

One weakness I would add is the inability to adjust touch consistently based on

I've seen some of that, OTOH - at least four perfect underneath touch throws on
