I think batted balls in the Utah game was a function of the defensive line advancing too far up field

rather than a function of Jake's throwing mechanics. As John Beck points out, almost no QB has the height and arm mechanics to throw over a 6'-5" lineman with his arms extended. QB have to throw through windows regardless of their mechanics, and Utah did a good job of shifting/disrupting those windows.
