and use the carrot to employ the new mandate. At some point though, the stick has to be used. But a lot of times no one tells a news organization about the multiple attempts the company used to be nice and understanding.

I also just don't see anything wrong with saying it. Why would you want people in your company that don't buy into the vision and are subversive to accomplishing company goals.

Yes I know many of you disagree with working from the office and I am not here to debate whether that is right or wrong. but if Amazon has decided that this is the best way to reach company goals then they should expect their employees to get on board if they want to be apart of that and there isn't room for those throwing fits.
