The AP poll is momentum voting - these guys aren’t watching all the games, they just slowly move teams up that are winning. They put very little thought into it. luckily, their votes do not matter at all.
The committee breaks team’s resumes and metrics down into batches and groups and debates each team against each other. It doesn’t start until November to avoid this exact problem. Each conference has a spokesperson too.
Be patient and ignore the AP poll. The CFP committee certainly does.
What they won’t ignore is the metrics that have us worse than our current ranking. Some are still full of pre-season data that will hopefully continue to bake out. All BYU can continue to do is kill other teams and win. It will be fine.
