I have almost 22,000 hours of printing on my MK3S with just normal maintenance
I have heard that the Bambu are great, but not sure people have experience running them up to super high usage rate yet to see ease of repairs and long term reliability.
Time will tell if the Bambu printers are up to that. But as others have said, I am dialed in with the Prusa construction, maintenance, slicer, etc. so I'm not sure I would switch now.

I see some 3d printers for sale on Prime Day and my son will want one for Christmas. Anyone have any recommendations?

Yep, that is my go to recommendation. I wish I had one. I still have an original Ender 3 with probably $300 of upgrades.

If I wasn't into 3d printing as much as I am I would get Bambulab as well. I have 2 Prusas which are more expensive
