We had 2 Ender 3's and then got a Bamboo. We gave one away and the kids use
the other ender 3 sometimes. The bamboo is just such better quality, faster, and does multi color stuff so easily that's not worth messing with the ender 3 anymore. Make the switch. You'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I see some 3d printers for sale on Prime Day and my son will want one for Christmas. Anyone have any recommendations?

Yep, that is my go to recommendation. I wish I had one. I still have an original Ender 3 with probably $300 of upgrades.

If I wasn't into 3d printing as much as I am I would get Bambulab as well. I have 2 Prusas which are more expensive
