Yep, that is my go to recommendation. I wish I had one. I still have an original Ender 3 with probably $300 of upgrades.
Haven't been able to justify getting something newer since mine works great still. But I'm jealous of the people I keep recommending the a1 mini to that end up getting them.

I see some 3d printers for sale on Prime Day and my son will want one for Christmas. Anyone have any recommendations?

If I wasn't into 3d printing as much as I am I would get Bambulab as well. I have 2 Prusas which are more expensive
