Mahomes is the only modern exception. Allen and Lamar both started as rookies, and your earliest example besides them
was drafted in 2005. Every QB good QB, aside from Mahomes, younger than 38 played as a rookie.

Unless you draft a huge project, you absolutely play your rookie. Almost every elite QB in the NFL started day one
