You've got a coach that apparently cares abotu your kid and that they preferred not to cut them but felt they had to.

They are reaching out to make sure that your kid is able to express how they feel about being cut, or ask questions as to why they were cut. And they have ideas about what your kid can do (perhaps simply ideas on what she can work on until next season).

Some coaches aren't even good at helping kids ON THE TEAM understand what they need to work on, where thy stand, etc.

Could this all be a boondoggle, sure? But I think you assume positive intent and assume it's just her reaching out to someone they care about, not anything more.
