I think it is a good gesture (though direct late night messaging is probably
not a great idea for the coach).

Perhaps she wants to let your kid know some specifics about what she can work on to make the team next year or something to she can do to stay involved.

Just temper expectations and take it for what it's worth, a coach that cares about your daughter. My son could have used that last year. We even specifically told the coaches he needed it, and they still didn't.
