the coach would have conveyed that by now rather than waiting multiple days to talk.

The coach either shouldn’t have reached out at all or should have been clear about why she did (i.e., “I would love for you to join the team” or “I want to explain my decision to keep you off the roster”). There should be no guessing games.

I hope she enters that meeting with no expectations and with her head held high about her future.
