It's not really a double standard. There are legitimate historical and societal
reasons why white people should not say it. I know things get jumbled up with political correctness, but the word was used by one race to reduce the human dignity of another. White people owned the word once, and abused it for power and greed. It's perfectly acceptable to conclude that the offending race has no right or reason to ever use the word.

It's not about the word itself, it's what the word was purposely and consciously used for that should make most people deem it unacceptable. Sure modern white people weren't there to say it in the past, but all we know darn well what it really meant, and it wasn't just a term of description.
