They have been:
The player that was “involved” has stated he’s okay with the punishment/ investigation of the University. He was the person who received the text in error. Still committed and finished his career at Utah. You have multiple AA players tweeting he’s the man for the job.

The text in question was intended for coach Shaw who is Black. Shaw said we need to get that _____. Scalley replied we got that _____ (but sent it to the recruit).

I'm not trying to justify the message. I'm glad it cost him 100k plus. An important lesson to us all. However, and I'm genuinely asking: how do BYU fans justify the quotes from Brigham Young himself? And this is history, not anti-LDS stuff. Like from his sermons, diaries, and laws. Byu was the 5th last school to have an AA player only behind four SEC schools. The first AA starting QB was literally the most recent starting QB.

Based on the above it seems to me this is more about rivalry than trying to evolve as a society. Like Utah moving on from the Redskins in 72 was huge at the time. Has BYU ever issued a statement on BY? This is a sincere ask. I think the state as a whole has lots of room for improvement. Not just the universities.
