using 2020 as a justification to keep KS. KS's best two seasons by far are 2020 and 2021. Both line up with COVID and Grimes fixing our O-line and pushing players more in practice. Because of COVID, our SOS was the worst it has been since 1972. No Grimes and no COVID and the team has recessed to what it was in 2018 (cross our fingers this year doesn't look like 2017 which is closer to what odds makers are giving us).
2020 was a great year. Our SRS provides some context for MOV and SOS.
It is the 5th highest in BYU history (nearly tied to #6 BYU's 1984 team). KS's next best SRS is 2021 which is the 25th best SRS. Bronco had 6 years with an SRS better than 2021 and one year better than 2020. So, based on MOV and SOS combined, it appears KS is turning out to be a downgrade from Bronco. And I don't think 2020 and 2021 is enough to make up for KS's poor performance in 2017 (worst SRS since 1970), 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 (worst SRS since 2003 besides 2017), 2024 (I assume), and even 2016 to some degree (I really think Bronco would have done something special with senior Taysom and Senior Jamaal and that defense).
KS can get up for some games, but fails to consistently put prepared, good teams on the field. His inconsistency drives me crazy.
