While other conferences sat on their hands and made politically motivated decisions to not play. While the SOS was lower than most seasons and you’re right some teams were not as prepared as BYU, the team did exatcly what it was supposed to do win by 4 TDs on average while the starters sat out the 4th quarters. The QB went on to be the #2 pick in the draft, the RB a 1,000 yard rusher as a rookie, the leading receiver is still on an active NFL roster, the LT was a high round draft pick and is playing on Sundays. The Oline was rated #2 in the country by PFF.

BYU had an elite offense and elite special teams. The defense was also very good. The program happened to peak in a Covid year. While the conditions of the season are not repeatable, BYU did bully the PAC 12 a year later to legitimize the programs peak. If BYU gets another backfield like Allgeier and Hall or Wilson along with good to great positions groups supporting them, the team record is absolutely repeatable. The program has a lot of 12 win seasons in its history
