it’s a college game, on campus who’s attendees are college students. students made gameday big. the atmosphere made gameday big.
if they pander to the older people they lose what made them successful in the first place. not everything is about finding the most eyeballs. nascar fell for this. they became super popular for a bit and then crashed and burned to its lowest point in 50 years.
if you lose the students, you lose gameday. if you lose the students, you lose the atmosphere at games. even though the students make up a small part of the stadium, they are the most important part. they bring the energy to everyone else. if the students aren’t watching, when they grow up, NOBODY is watching. that goes for college gameday and college football as a whole.
those older fans are fans because college football was actually about college when they were in college. pander to the biggest demo and leave behind the actual college students, and over time you lose it all.
