hates the boring stuff. He is a very smart, hard working, and innovative dude, but he also got lucky to land right in the lap of the government pouring billions into incentives for EV adoption. Elon's day to day management of companies is borderline malfeasance as he simply doesn't have the patience to run it for any length of time. And while he was able to recruit the smartest people in the world years ago, as he's gotten wealthier and older he has gotten more disconnected from reality and treats people worse and worse and those same best people will not work with him anymore.

I and several others have been sounding the alarm on the promises of self driving for years. The devils in the details, and Elon doesn't have the desire or patience to understand those let alone execute to solve those.
