It’s an important season for him
Can’t have two losing seasons. Not acceptable and not the standard.
Problem is that the 2024 outlook isn’t particularly bright, especially with how bad the offense was last year. We’d be very naive to think that those issues have been sufficiently addressed. The defense is on the right path when it comes to recruiting and scheming, and coaching, but clearly trying to overcome years of bad coaching and recruiting that Sitake put up with. Watching the last defensive staff was almost comical. It’s also common knowledge that if the defense is more successful they’ll probably lose the coordinator who is the best coach on staff.
In the Big12, having a good offensive is also more conducive to winning and do even if the defense is better, the results might be the same.
