It’s what Utah runs and it’s awful to watch (a bit better when it’s your team and it works)and it very often works, especially as you acquire a more talented group of defenders and maintain high quality punt team and have a good kicker. All the throws at/beyond the sticks and or over the middle (slants in-cuting routes) are being hedged. They’re trying to bait you into an incompletion or worse. They’re throwing to open receivers and hoping they make a play but if we’re up 2+ scores they’re gonna play “team football” and just avoid mistakes. It’s nothing like what Lavell did but with the constant pressure of going agains better players week in and week out and with the fact that that old style is no longer a gimmick. We can’t do it. Team football leads to ugly wins and a lot of them till we hopefully get better offensively but even then we’re rarely going to take big chances. You wanted big time and that’s what it’s gonna look like unless we replace everyone starting at the top and it may not lead to more wins just more exciting losses. . .
