Defense and the first down marker. Arod’s fault is that those throws are usually toward the sideline and the defender can pin the player to the sideline while the defender maintains his ground at the first down marker.
Good plays underneath the marker are slants, crossing patterns across the middle with a WR under the coverage and in open space or all receivers taking the coverage downfield and a late TE or RB releasing after the block.
It’s nothing new that Arod doesn’t like to use the middle of the field
