I’m not sure you understand how far CP3 fell off. His mid range shot wasn’t good
this year. Beal does just about everything better than CP3. He’s a better shooter, more willing shooter, he’s bigger, he’s faster, he’s better at getting to the rim and finishing at the rim. He’s a more switchable defender.
Paul is a better passer and a smarter defender. That’s about it.
Also they can still trade Ayton for depth and likely will. This move didn’t change that at all.
