You should take mind in how you approach this in a space where you could unintentionally harm a person you are trying to support. If you have an issue with me then it might be better to just pm me your list of swear words and angry names.
To address your concerns.
Well, because Chad is probably following this thread AND FOR HIS EDIFICATION it illustrates a point in proxy about what may or may not be helpful for him that is both more comfortable and less likely than saying, “hey Chad, what’s give stop you from buying more drugs or a gun if we give you cash “? Which might cause Chad more harm.
But, since you press the issue, here we are.
To answer how $$$ could hurt more than help? Do I really need to answer that? I mean, I kinda just did and the Seattle proxy illustration was intended for exactly that purpose as well as it is an illustration of how good intentions, when not carefully considered, can cause unintentional harm and why people who care as bout Chad need to be careful about their helpful approach.
No, we do not know what Chad’s intentions are with funds he hopes to raise. As is common with many people, Previous monetary interventions have been met with little positive results. My professional opinion is honestly that we should probably not intervene with anything beyond expressions of compassion, empathy, care and concern.
But hey, I’m just a mental healthcare professional (albeit, one who has not been privy to Chad’s chart).
Of course, anyone who wants to give money to him is free to do so. But do so knowing it might result in the means to Chad’s demise, or worse.
