They obviously executed the heck out of the concept that they could do a stand
alone story within the star wars universe that wasn't a exactly skywalker film. And even though it was a stand alone film they did a masterful job still tying it in to everything else anyways at the end. Brilliantly executed. But what i'm trying to say is that for me i'm not attached to the characters from rogue in the same way as I am the other films. I'm not getting toys for my kids from rogue one. I don't see my kids pretending to be anyone from rogue one. I don't remember the character names easily. Whereas the other films everyone is easy to name. I just remember rogue one as a surprisingly good film and that tied in really well at the end to the other films. But the investment into the characters in rogue one is just different than the other films. And I kind of forget about darth vader in rogue one. But yeah i'm fine with rogue one as a movie... but its not one I go back and watch with my kids like I do with the others for some reason.

I didn't mind obi wan and qui gon jin. Underutilized/wasted talents in theprequels. If only the phantom menace was just all about obiwon and darth maul. Would have been so much better.
