I had a friend in HS that would try out every year

For the basketball team and every year would make it to the very last cut. This was a little weird to us that knew him because he was really not good. After the very last cut the coach would talk him into being team manager so he could stay close to the team and surely surely next year he’d make it.

My friend finally caught on to what was happening his senior year.
