I don’t think Paul gives the suns anything. He’s never been healthy.
So he’s just taking up a roster spot.
If somehow he becomes healthy during the playoffs for the first time since the Obama administration, then he still doesn’t give the suns much on offense. His two man game is still great with the right roster, but on a team with KD and Booker all he’s doing is just taking the ball out of the hands of much better scorers. And he’s unable to play any other style—can’t shoot threes and he can’t play off ball. He sucks at defense.
Beal can shoot threes (especially the wide open catch and shoot threes he’s going to get). He can play off ball, he can be a secondary creator, he can be the fulcrum of a second unit offense
He’s got a horrible contract, but the suns are in the luxury tax anyway and the fans aren’t the ones paying the tax
