Again, NO ONE would care if CG acknowledged generous private donors. Even the most embittered U of U fan understands that BYU has donors. But when CG starts blowing clouds and smoke on this simple matter, it just fuels the flames on the claims that BYU/CES/The Church are not acting appropriately with finances. I completely understand that The Church does not want to disclose all of their financial details. But do not obfuscate things that could so easily be transparent. If CG feels the need to be this dodgy on this simple matter, it sort of is worrisome how he might act when the issue is more nuanced or complex. Ir reminds me of a documentary on another (well known faith) called "Lying for the Lord." People who have spent so much time spinning things to protect the Church that they forget to turn it off when they do not actually have to spin doctor things.
