Without the athletic program. I’m not sure we know that. What if they just replaced student athletes with other students?
Additionally, one can argue that student athletes contribute a great deal to the marketing, reputation, and brand of the University. One can make the argument that student athletes are subsidizing the university given all they bring without direct payment from the University.
