The 50s. I'm just surprised how many people found that "menacing".
It doesn't make sense to me. At no moment in the film did any of us find that silly monster menacing.
My wife who liked the movie (but didn't love it) because of the characters thought the Godzilla scenes were more funny than scary.
Also, I liked the movie overall. My family and I would be in the 98% of people who liked it. It was enjoyable.
But that is it. Nothing more. I'd probably give it 3 out of 4 stars for a fun silly entertaining popcorn flick. But nothing special and certainly not one of the best movies of the year.
